Sausage Shrimp Skewers

Print Recipe

Time to get skewered! These sausage shrimp skewers are surf and turf on a stick, and are gauranteed to wash up smiles.

Tips / Suggestions

  • If you don’t have beef tallow, just use olive oil or pam. It mainly just prevents the skewers from sticking to the grate.
  • If using wood skewers, soak them in water for 30 min, or if you don’t have time, just run some cold water over them. I’ve never (to date) had an issue with them catching fire.
  • It might seem obvious, but be sure to slice the sausage into a similar thickness as the shrimp so they both cook evenly.

Shrimp and sausage skewered up, grilled, and basted with a delicious honey garlic sauce

  • 1 lb 1 shrimp, de-veined with tail on

  • 1 lb 1 sausage of choice

  • beef tallow spray

  • 2 tbsp 2 seafood seasoning of choice

  • 3-4 3-4 skewers

  • 1 tbsp 1 cilantro chopped

  • Honey Garlic Sauce
  • 4 tbsp 4 honey

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp 2 brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp 2 minced garlic

  • 2 tbsp 2 apple cider vinegar

Directions

  • Cut up the sausage into individual slices. Skewer each shrimp around each slice of sausage. Spray the tallow over the sausage shrimp skewers and coat with the seafood seasoning.
  • Mix all of the sauce ingredients into a sauce pot. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Set aside.
  • Heat your grill to 400 degrees F direct. Grill each skewer for 2 minutes. Flip and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Flip the skewers and baste with the honey garlic sauce. Grill for 2 more minutes. Repeat this process one more time.
  • Remove the shrimp from the grill when cooked through, top with any remaining sauce, and spread the cilantro over top. Remove the sausage and shrimp from the skewers and dig in.
