Chicken drumsticks trimmed into lollipops, grilled, and smothered in a delicious Mountain Dew Code Red BBQ sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 1 large pack of chicken drumsticks (roughly 14 or so)

  • 1 cup 1 BBQ seasoning of choice (or all purpose rub)

  • 2 tbsp 2 parsley chopped

  • Code Red BBQ Sauce
  • 2 cups 2 Mountain Dew Code Red

  • 1 cup 1 ketchup

  • 2 tbsp 2 brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp 2 molasses

  • 1 tbsp 1 worcestershire sauce

  • 2 tbsp 2 brown mustard

  • 1 tsp 1 BBQ seasoning of choice (or all purpose rub)

  • 1 tsp 1 cracked black pepper

  • 1 tsp 1 garlic powder

Directions

  • Take a sharp knife and cut around the bone, about 1/3 of the way down from the knuckle. Pull skin off towards the knuckle exposing the bone. Trim any excess tendors. Then, push the meat and skin down in the other direction to form a lollipop.
  • Coat all sides of each lollipop with the BBQ seasoning. Set aside.
  • Mix all of the BBQ sauce ingredients into a sauce pan. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer, stirring frequently for roughly 20 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool for 10 minutes. Pour into a large cup. Set aside.
  • Heat your grill or smoker to 375 degrees F indirect. Place the lollipops on the grill and cook for roughly 30 minutes, or until the internal temp reaches 165 degrees F internal.
  • During the last 5 minutes of cooking, dip each lollipop into the sauce and place back on the grill to finish cooking.
  • Once the lollipops are done remove from the grill, top with parsley, and dig in.
