Salmon grilled on a cedar plank and smothered with hot honey and lemons.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb salmon filet

  • 2 tbsp hot honey

  • 1 cedar plank

  • 1 lemon sliced

  • 1 tbsp bbq seasoning of choice

  • 1 tbsp fresh basil chopped

Directions

  • Soak the cedar plank in water for 1 hour.
  • Spread hot honey over the salmon and coat with a bbq rub / seasoning of your choice.
  • Heat your grill to 375 degrees direct. Place the cedar plank on the grill for 2-3 minutes and then flip over for another 2-3 minutes until the plank is slightly charred on both sides. Remove the plank from the grill.
  • Place the salmon on the cedar plank and top with lemon slices. Then, place the planked salmon on the grill.
  • After the salmon has cooked long enough to nearly reach your desired internal temperature (mine is 120 F for fresh caught), top the salmon with more hot honey, lemon juice, and basil.
  • Once the salmon is done cooking, remove from the grill, and dig in. Don't bother trying to remove from the plank. It's much easier just to leave it on the plank and eat from there.
